Stumbling
It is so hard to get back the discipline.
It's amazing how quickly and easily you can lose sight of what's important. You're lucky if you identify the issue, and considered strong and brave if you act to change your situation. I've done what I thought was the hard part, identified and acted, but now I'm stuck. I'm tired and unfocused, using my day to clean, shop and hook up, and not practice. When I do sit down to sing, I end up singing for about 10 minutes if I'm lucky. I barely translate anymore, and I do even less analysis.
It was so easy when I was a student, and even a teacher. Business is not very "art" friendly.
Discipline. I suppose that's the key. Spending time doing it, even though it's rough and not fun. Taking the score with me to work and spending time at lunch going through and translating text. Coming home for dinner and singing instead of going out for a few drinks.
